Henry, Duke of Mecklenburg-Stargard

Henry, Duke of Mecklenburg [- Stargard ] ( * before 1412, † May 26 btw u August 20, 1466 ) was from 1417 to 1466 reigning prince as lord of Mecklenburg - Stargard with Neubrandenburg, Stargard, Strelitz and Wesenberg ( with the Lize ). To distinguish between Duke Henry IV called " the Elder ".

Life

Henry was born before 1412 as the youngest child of the Duke Ulrich I and his wife Margerete. He ruled, initially under guardianship to Neubrandenburg. In 1436 he inherited his cousin Johann III. , Duke of Mecklenburg [- Stargard ], and Henry IV, Duke of Mecklenburg [- Schwerin ], the rule Werle. After the death of John III. he prevailed again over the entire ( sub-) Duchy of Mecklenburg- Stargard.

Henry was considered a war joyful rulers.
