Henry F. Gilbert

Henry Franklin Belknap Gilbert ( born August 26, 1868 in Somerville (Massachusetts ), † May 19 1928 in Cambridge / Massachusetts) was an American composer and writer on music.

Gilbert studied in Boston at Edward MacDowell and George Elbridge Whiting. He was a violinist in various orchestras entertainment. He also studied the music of Native Americans and black Americans, from his compositions are characterized. In addition to orchestral pieces he composed songs and piano pieces, and published folk songs.
