Henry Giroux

Henry Armand Giroux ( born June 18, 1943 in Providence, Rhode Iceland ) is a socially critical American author and professor of pedagogy.

He became known for his criticism of the U.S. education system, its built on Paulo Freire critical pedagogy and his criticism of the views of young people in pop culture.

From 1968 to 1975 Henry A. Giroux taught at a high school in Barrington, Rhode Iceland 's history. After he had in 1977 received his Ph.D. from Carnegie - Mellon University, he was Professor of Education at Boston University. In 1983 he moved to the Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he was also director of the Center for Education and Cultural Studies. Between 1992 and 2004 he held the Waterbury Chair of Education at Penn State University. Since 2004 he has worked at McMaster University in Ontario.

Henry A. Giroux wrote over 30 books and articles in magazines and journals. He currently lives in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada with his wife Susan Searls Giroux -.
