Henry H. Chambers

Henry H. Chambers ( * October 1, 1790 in Kenbridge, Lunenburg County, Virginia; † January 24, 1826 ibid ) was an American politician of the Democratic-Republican Party, who represented the state of Alabama in the U.S. Senate.

Chambers graduated in 1808 at William and Mary College in Williamsburg; 1811 was followed by the completion of medical school at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. The following year he moved to Madison, Alabama, where he settled as a physician. In several Indian wars, he worked as a surgeon.

After returning from military service Chambers lived in Huntsville and began to engage in politics. In 1819 he was a member of the Constitutional Convention of Alabama, the following year he became a deputy in the House of Representatives of the State. 1821 and 1823, he ran unsuccessfully for the office of each Governor.

In 1824 Henry Chambers, who scored within his party for Jackson - wing, then chosen for Alabama in the United States Senate. He took advantage of his position from March 4, 1825 but died at the beginning of the following year, when he intended to go from his home on the way back to Washington.
