Henry H. Childs

Henry Halsey Childs ( born June 7, 1783 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, † March 22, 1868 in Boston, Massachusetts ) was an American politician. In 1843 and 1844 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Massachusetts.

Career

In 1802 Henry Childs graduated from Williams College. After a subsequent medical studies and his medical license, he started with his father in this profession work. In 1822 he was involved in the founding of the Berkshire Medical College. In the following years he worked at this school, whose president he would eventually be. He also practiced as a physician continues. Politically he was first a member of the Democratic- Republican Party. In the 1820s he joined the movement to the future President Andrew Jackson and became a member of the Democratic Party, founded in 1828 by this. In the years 1816 and 1827 he sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from Massachusetts. In 1820 he was a delegate to a constitutional convention of his state; in 1837 he was a member of the Massachusetts Senate.

In the years 1843 and 1844 was Deputy Governor of the State of Massachusetts Henry Childs on the side of Marcus Morton. He was assistant to the governor. Childs was also teaching at a Christian Sunday school ( Sabbath School ) where he was president of the Berkshire Bible Society. He died on March 22, 1868 in Boston.
