Henry I, Count of Holstein-Rendsburg

Henry I of Holstein - Rendsburg ( * 1258, † 1304) was the first Count of Holstein - Rendsburg.

He was the son of Gerhard I. ( Holstein Itzehoe ) ( † 1290 ) and Elisabeth of Mecklenburg ( † ca 1280 ). 1285 he could Waldemar of Schleswig from captivity of the Danish king Erik V.. After her father's death, the surviving sons divided the county Holstein Itzehoe among themselves. Henry was awarded in the division of Rendsburg. He was always in feud with the Dithmarschers.

Shortly before his death, he imposed a duty on Foreign Goods, By the cranes. Customs went to half of Hamburg and the remainder in equal shares to the Holstein- Pinneberg and Holstein - Rendsburg. After the extinction of the lines 1640 whose customs went to the Duchy of Holstein, from 1768, he went completely in Hamburg.

Family

He married in 1289 Heilwig ( 1265 - after 1324 ) the daughter of Count Floris Bronkhorst. The couple had the following children:
