Henry L. Myers

Henry Lee Myers ( * October 9, 1862 in Boonville, Cooper County, Missouri, † November 11, 1943 in Billings, Montana ) was an American politician (Democratic Party), who represented the state of Montana in the U.S. Senate.

Henry Myers received his education at private schools such as the Cooper Institute and Boonville Academy. He then studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1884 and commenced practice as a lawyer in his home town of Boonville. In 1893, he moved to Hamilton, Montana; two years later he was attorney of Ravalli County, a position he held until 1899. Between 1907 and 1911 he served as a judge for the Fourth District Court of Montana.

Even before his political career began with membership of the State Senate 1899-1903. 1910 Myers was then placed by the Democratic Party as a candidate for the seat in the U.S. Senate, the above no longer Republican nominee Thomas Henry Carter had taken. He decided to choose for himself, was re-elected in 1916 and thus belonged to the Congress of March 4, 1911 to March 3, 1923; In 1922, he not applied for re-election. During his time in the Senate he was chairman of the committee of the Committee on Irrigation and Reclamation of Arid Lands.

In the year of his departure from the Senate Henry Myers settled in Billings, where he was working as a lawyer again. He was appointed in 1927 as Assistant Judge of the Supreme Court of Montana, and remained there for two years before he returned to his private practice.
