Henry of Groitzsch

Margrave Heinrich of Groitzsch (* 1090, † December 31, 1135 in Mainz ) was Count of Groitzsch and from 1131, when Henry III, Margrave of Lausitz. . He was the second son of Wiprecht of Groitzsch and Judith of Bohemia. He came from the family of the Counts of Groitzsch.

Life

It was in 1124 after the death of his father, Viscount of Magdeburg in 1131 and Margrave of Lusatia, and the monastery Vogt Neuwerk in Halle. As Margrave of Meissen, Heinrich could not prevail, there came with Conrad I the Wettin returned to power.

Henry was with Bertha von Gelnhausen, (also: of Gleißberg ) married ( † after 1137 ). She was a daughter of the Earl of Dietmar Selbold - Gelnhausen represented among the founding figures in the Naumburg Cathedral, from the noble Reginbodonen. Henry and Bertha in 1133 donated the monastery Biirgel. His marriage to Bertha no children were born.
