Henry Pickering Bowditch

Henry Pickering Bowditch ( born April 4, 1840 in Boston, † March 13, 1911 ) was an American physiologist.

Life

He undertook an extensive study in Europe, France for one year and two years at Carl Ludwig in Leipzig.

Bowditch was from 1876 to 1906 professor of physiology at Harvard University. From 1903 he was the first holder of the George Higginson professorship of physiology. He was succeeded by Walter Cannon.

He was the brother of lawyer Antonio Knauth.
