Henry Vail

Henry Vail (* 1782 in Millbrook, New York, † June 25, 1853 in Troy, New York ) was an American politician. Between 1837 and 1839 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Henry Vail was born during the Revolutionary War at Millbrook. He received a limited education. Between 1806 and 1815 he worked as a retailer and 1815-1832 as wholesalers. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1836 for the 25th Congress Vail was in the ninth election district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Hiram P. Hunt on March 4, 1837. In 1838 he suffered in his re-election bid a defeat and retired after March 3, 1839, from the Congress of. After his conference time he took in Troy his previous businesses, where he died on 25 June 1853. His body was interred there in the Oakwood Cemetery.
