Henry Woods (Pennsylvania)

Henry Woods ( * 1764 in Bedford, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, † 1826 ) was an American politician. Between 1799 and 1803 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Henry Woods was the younger brother of Congressman John Woods ( 1761-1816 ). Neither his exact birth nor his death date have survived. He attended the common schools. After a subsequent law degree in 1792 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he started working in Bedford in this profession. Politically, he was a member of the late 1790s, founded by Alexander Hamilton Federalist Party.

In the congressional elections of 1798 Woods was selected in the tenth electoral district of Pennsylvania in the time which meets even in Philadelphia U.S. House of Representatives, where he became the successor of David Bard on March 4, 1799. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1803 two legislative sessions. During this time, in 1800, the new federal capital, Washington DC related.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, Henry Woods operated in the real estate business as a land speculator. He died in 1826 in his hometown of Bedford.
