Henryk Hoser

Henryk Hoser SAC ( born November 27, 1942 in Warsaw, Poland, at that time General ) is Bishop of Warsaw - Praga and former Archbishop Curia.

Life

Henryk Hoser attended primary school in Pruszków and secondary school in Warsaw. He then studied at the Medical Academy in Warsaw, where he in 1966 his diploma in medicine acquired and then worked as an assistant at the university. In 1969 he joined the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (SAC ) of St. Vincent Pallotti, where he obtained temporary vows on September 8, 1970. From 1970 to 1974 he studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the seminary of the SAC in Ołtarzew (Poland).

On 16 June 1974 he was ordained a priest. From 1974 to 1975 he studied in preparation for his work as a missionary in Rwanda French and Tropical Medicine in Paris. From 1975 to 1995 he was a missionary in Rwanda, where he held various positions: parochial vicar, parish priest, lecturer for the animation of the Familienapostolats, commissioner for the apostolic training of the laity; Charged with promoting the Presseapostolats.

In 1978 he founded in Kigali a center for health and social services, which he himself directed for 17 years, and a center of family ministry ( Action Familiale ). For several years he served as secretary of the Episcopal Commission on Health and the Episcopal Commission for the family. He was also Chairman of the Federation of Associated Medical centers in Kigali ( BUFMAR ), head of an AIDS Observatory and head of a program of psycho- medical and social care for AIDS sufferers.

During his time as a missionary in Rwanda, he was also for 10 years Regional Superior of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate ( Pallottiner ) and Chairman of the Conference of Major Superiors and Superiors of the Societies of Apostolic Life ( COSUMA ) in Rwanda. In 1994 he took part in the Synod for Africa as an expert on family issues and development. Also in 1994 the absence of the Apostolic Nuncio in Rwanda was appointed apostolic visitor in this country for the time. In this office he was for two years until the appointment of a new Vatican representative. From 1996 to 2003 he was Regional Superior of the SAC and member of the Missionary Council of the Conference of Major Superiors in France. During these years he visited for the Evangelization of Peoples seminaries in various mission countries on behalf of the Congregation. He co-founded founded in 2001, " Federation Africaine de l' Action Familiale ". From 2004 he served as rector of the Missionsprokur of the SAC in Brussels ( Belgium ), where he also worked as a chaplain in the European Community.

Hoser was appointed by Pope John Paul II, Titular Archbishop of Tepelta and as Assistant Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples and President of the Pontifical Mission Societies on 22 January 2005. He received his episcopal consecration Crescenzio Cardinal Sepe on March 19 of the same year.

On 24 May 2008, he appointed Pope Benedict XVI. while maintaining the personal title of Archbishop Bishop of Warsaw - Praga. The enthronement took place on 28 June 2008. On 4 July 2009 he was appointed Pope Benedict XVI. the consultant to the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.

Henryk Hoser was on 23 September 2009 by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed a member of the Second Special Assembly of the Synod of Bishops for Africa ( 4 to 25 October 2009). In 2011 he received the honorary citizenship of the city of Warsaw.
