Hepatectomy
The hepatectomy (hepar = liver) referred to in surgery the complete surgical removal of the liver. It is carried out as part of a liver transplant.
Often in the literature, the term also appears to partial hepatectomy, which is a partial removal of the liver is meant ( liver resection ). This designation, however, is factually incorrect, since, by definition, is a complete removal of an organ resection. The correct term for operative partial removal of the liver is liver resection.
