Heppendorf is a district of the city Sindelsdorf in the North Rhine-Westphalian Rhein -Erft.
Location
Heppendorf bordered to the east by Sindorf, to the south by Geil Rath, on the west by stammering and to the northwest by Widdendorf.
History
From the Stone Age and the Roman period remains could be discovered in Heppendorf. The Cologne Stift St. Gereon had before 976 more goods, including the Fronhof with its chapel. In 1119, the Lords of Heppendorf were first mentioned, as lords of the castle Elberfeld assumed the name of Elverfeld later. They served the archbishops of Cologne from the 12th to the 14th century as ministry officials. Since the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Official Bergheim in the Duchy of Jülich. 1794 Occupied French revolutionary troops Heppendorf. It was the Mairie Heppendorf in the canton in the Arrondissement Kerpen Cologne in the Département de la Roer. The Mairie Heppendorf was 1800/ 01 also known as Mairie Grouven. 1815 came Heppendorf to the Kingdom of Prussia. In 1816 the mayor Heppendorf was formed in 1937 united with the office since 1938 and was called Esch Office Sindelsdorf. Since 1 January 1975 Heppendorf is a part of the community Sindelsdorf which has since 2011 a city.
