Heracles Almelo is a football club from Almelo in the Netherlands.

General

The home jersey of the club are striped black and white. Shorts and socks are black.

History

The club was founded on May 3, 1903, named after the Greek hero Heracles. 1927 and 1941, when there were only amateur football was in the Netherlands, the country club champion. After the introduction of professional football, the team never belonged to the absolute top. Partly Highlights were a few years in the Eredivisie in the 1960s, a victory in the Cup competition 1975 on Ajax Amsterdam, a one-year stay in the Eredivisie in the 1985/86 season and the resurgence in the highest class in June 2005.

Heracles received by the football associations and UEFA KNVB trial permission to play its home games on an artificial turf mat. The producer of this artificial turf, Koninklijke Ten Cate, a former textiles producer from Hellendoorn, is also the largest sponsor of the club, and hopes to reach that artificial grass surfaces are also bought by top clubs.

Well-known players were the last few seasons or include Rob Maas, Mika Nurmela, Martin Pieckenhagen, Kai Michalke and Nico -Jan Hoogma. Hoogma finished his career after the season 2005/06. Since January 1, 2007 Hoogma works as a manager for the SC Heracles Almelo.

Stadium

Play their home games from Heracles Almelo in the Polman Stadium. The sports facility in Almelo was inaugurated in 1999 and replaced the Gemeentelijk Sports Park, Bornsestraat.
