Herbert Arnould Olivier

Herbert Arnould Olivier ( born September 9, 1861 in Battle ( East Sussex ), † March 2, 1952 on Hayling Iceland, Hampshire ) was a portrait and landscape painter in London.

Family

His parents were Reverend Henry Arnold Olivier and Anne Elizabeth Hardcastle Arnould. The father was rector in Poulshot, Wiltshire.

In 1903 he married Margaret Barclay Peat, the daughter of Sir William Peat.

His nephew was the actor Laurence Olivier.

Work

He studied from 1881 at the Royal Academy of Arts, where he in 1882 the Creswick prize won.

He taught at the Bombay School of Art After 1884 accompanied the Duke of Connaught to Kashmir, he presented the following year, 66 pictures from her trip to the Fine Art Society of. In 1887 he was elected to the Royal Society of British Artists.

In 1908 he had an exhibition at the Grafton Galleries. In 1917, he was the Official War Artist.
