Herbert Butterfield

Herbert Butterfield ( born October 7, 1900 in Oxenhope, West Yorkshire, † 20 July in Sawston, South Cambridgeshire, 1979) was a British historian and philosopher of history.

Butterfield coined the term Whig Interpretation of History for a way of thinking, after the history of civilization coincides with the British national history. He used the term " scientific revolution " ( Knowledge Revolution ), for the variability in the form of knowledge, the quality and structure of knowledge change with the advent of new media, for example from oral to written culture of knowledge.
