Herbert Jamison

Herbert Brotherson Jamison ( born September 17, 1875 in Peoria, Illinois, † June 22, 1938 ibid ), a U.S. student at Princeton University, took part in the first 1896 Summer Olympics in Athens. He went to the U.S. and took in the 400 meter race at the second day of competition, April 7 (26 March *), in a time of 55.2 seconds for second place. On the 1st day of competition, April 6 (March 25, *), Jamison won the first elimination run about 400 meters before the German Fritz Hofmann. With that he picked up for a day the Olympic record over this distance.
