Herbert Krug

Herbert Stein ( born June 21, 1937 in Mainz, † November 2, 2010 in Hochheim am Main ) was a dressage rider, who started for the Federal Republic of Germany.

Career

Pitcher worked as a winemaker near Hochheim am Main. At first he denied competitions in all three Olympic equestrian disciplines. 1963 he had his first major international success when he was eighth in the individual competition at the European Championship of rural eventer. As a result, he focused increasingly on the dressage and rode from the 1970s in advanced level dressage tests class. In 1980 he acquired in Denmark the then eight- year-old gelding Muscadeur and trained it from jumping to the dressage horse. His first international championship start as a dressage rider he had at the 1983 European Championships in Aachen, a year later, also followed with Muscadeur the start of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles. In addition to the victory with the team he was only ranked five in the individual standings.

Private

In 2006, he was seized with a nervous illness, which led to a serious damage to the nerve cells. In November 2010, he died in a hospice.
