Herbert Kuhner

Herbert Kuhner ( born 1935 in Vienna) is an Austrian writer and translator.

Life

Kuhner 1939 he immigrated with his parents to the United States of America, where he made at Columbia University, his academic degree. In 1963 he returned to Vienna, where he works as a writer and translator until today and has worked among others with the Austrian literature forum.

The Austrian Federal President has bestowed on him the title of Professor.

Herbert Kuhner is particularly occurred with his translations as "ambassadors " for the literatures of the Austrian ethnic groups and has made them available to the English-speaking audience. In addition, he has presented at the American publisher Schocken Books an anthology of Austrian poetry after 1945.
