Herbert Rudley

Herbert Rudley ( born March 22, 1910 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, † September 9, 2006 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American actor.

Life and work

Herbert Rudley attended Temple University in Philadelphia. He left the University when he was awarded a scholarship for the Civic Repertory Theatre of producer Eva Le Gallienne. Rudleys acting career began in the theater in 1926. His Broadway debut, he graduated in 1931 with the play Did I Say No. Other roles he got in the plays The Threepenny Opera, Abe Lincoln in Illinois and Macbeth.

1940 was Herbert Rudley his feature film debut in Abe Lincoln in Illinois, the screen adaptation of the Broadway play of the same name. The following decades was Rudley a sought Supporting Actor. Also for the distance vision he was interesting. He came in both dramas and comedies for use. Because of its stocky stature, he played mainly policemen, officers and principal men. In numerous television series, he has guest starred, for example in Gunsmoke, Maverick, 77 Sunset Strip, West of Santa Fe, Bronco, Department F, The people of the Virginian, growing up would have to be, My Favorite Martian, I Dream of Jeannie and Dallas. He had his most successful television role on the sitcom The Mothers -in-Law of the NBC broadcasts as a lawyer Herb Hubbard.

Herbert Rudley was married twice. He was the father of two children he had with his first wife, actress Ann Loring. His second marriage to Marilyn Perl remained childless. The two were married for almost 48 years. On September 9, 2006 Herbert Rudley died at the age of 96 years to a heart attack.
