Herbes de Provence

Herbes de Provence are a French herb mixture.

It consists of different kitchen herbs that grow wild in Provence in southern France. Herbal formulas can be composed of different, usually mainly thyme, rosemary, oregano, marjoram and savory mix. Other ingredients can be as basil, tarragon, fennel, chervil, bay or sage. Lavender is not mixed in France in the herbs of Provence, but comes with placed in Germany on the market spice mixes again and again.

The herbs are mixed fresh, dried as finished mixture or in the form of Spiced vinegar or preserved Würzöl available.

In Provencal herbs it is not a protected designation of origin - most of the herbal mixture sold under that name today comes from the Balkans or the Maghreb.
