Herbligen

Herbligen is a municipality in the Bern-Mittelland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Geography

Herbligen is located on 578 m above sea level. M., 8 km north of the city of Thun (air line). The farming village extends on the alluvial plain of the Chise on the eastern edge of the broad Aare valley and at the foot of Falkenflue.

The area of ​​2.75 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the pre-Alpine hills east of the Aare valley. The area is traversed from north-east to south-west of the Chise in a 600 m wide valley floor. To the west of the commune spell reaches into the undulating landscape of Lischiwald ( 627 m above sea level. M. ) and on the eastern edge of the valley of the Aare Aspi. In the east, the municipality of soil extends in a narrow strip on the slope of Helisbühl and Bürglenberg (860 m above sea level. M. ) to the striking Falkenflue. Above the cliff edge with 1,000 m above sea level. M. reached the highest elevation of Herbligen. From the municipality surface 1997 11 % came from settlements, 41 % of forest and woody plants and 48% to agriculture.

To Herbligen include residential development Hubel (612 m above sea level. M. ) on the grounds terrace at the edge of Lischiwaldes, Helisbühl (604 m above sea level. M. ) and Widibühl (656 m above sea level. M. ) on the lower western slopes of the Falkenflue and various individual courtyards. Neighboring communities of Herbligen are Oberdiessbach, Bleiken at Oberdiessbach, Brenzikofen, Oppligen and Wichtrach.

History

Remains of a prehistoric fortification on the Eggrain point to an early settlement of the municipality of Herbligen. The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1302 under the name Herblingen; by 1312 the name Herbe Lingen has survived. The name goes back to the Old High German personal name Harbilo or Herwilo and accordingly is with the people of Harbilo / Herwilo.

Since the Middle Ages Herbligen was part of the reign of this creek, which was under the suzerainty of the Counts of Kyburg. End of the 14th century came the supremacy of Bern. From 1471 Herbligen belonged to free court Steffi castle. The high court was under Bernese domination always at the District Court Konolfingen. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798 ) Herbligen belonged during the Helvetic Republic to the district Steffi castle and from 1803 to Oberamt Konolfingen, which was given the status of an office district with the new cantonal constitution of 1831. Herbligen does not have its own church, it belongs to the parish Oberdiessbach.

Population

With 579 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Herbligen one of the small communities of the Canton of Bern. Of the residents 98.4 % are German, 0.6 % French-speaking and 0.6 % speak Portuguese (as of 2000). The population of Herbligen amounted in 1850 to 355 residents in 1900 to 302 inhabitants. During the 20th century, the population gradually increased. Since 1980 (420 inhabitants) increased population growth was recorded.

Policy

The voting shares of the parties at the national elections of 2011 were: SVP 37.2 %, 18.5 % EDU, BDP 15.2 %, SP 9.2 %, FDP 5.9 %, 5.5 % EPP, GPS 4.7 %, 1.2 % glp, CVP 0.6 %.

Economy

Herbligen was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, the dairy industry, animal husbandry and farming and fruit growing an important place in the economic structure of the population. More jobs are in small local manufacturing and services available, including operations of the pipeline construction, in a saw mill and a pottery. In recent decades, the village has developed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in the larger towns in the Aare Valley and around Thun.

Traffic

The community is conveniently technically quite well developed. It lies on the main road from Thun to Konolfingen. The nearest links to the motorway A6 ( Bern- Thun) is located approximately 4 km from the town center. Herbligen owns the bus line of Oberdiessbach to Münsingen a connection to the public transport network. The nearest railway station on the railway line from Thun via Konolfingen to Burgdorf is located in Brenzikofen.
