Hereford and Worcester

Hereford and Worcester (often County Hereford and Worcester ) was a county in the west of England, and at the same time also an administrative district with a capital of Worcester. It was formed by the merger in 1974 of Herefordshire and Worcestershire; the area of ​​the county was 3,926 square kilometers. The landscape of Hereford and Worcester was characterized by a broad lowland plain with up to 400 meters high Malvern Hills ridge, which used to form the border between Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

In the north of Hereford and Worcester bordered Shropshire, Staffordshire and the West Midlands, Warwickshire to the east, on the south by the county of Gloucestershire and Gwent in Wales and the west by the Welsh county of Powys.

The largest cities in Hereford and Worcester were Worcester, Hereford, Bromsgrove and Redditch. Overall, the county had approximately 680,000 inhabitants.

In 1998, the county was again dissolved and divided into the two counties of Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
