Heriberto Herrera

Heriberto Herrera Udrizal ( born March 24, 1926 in Guarambaré, Paraguay, † July 26, 1996 in Asunción, Paraguay ) was a Paraguayan football player and coach.

During his time as a coach, he was known for his rigid sense as "Iron Sergeant ". In addition to the Paraguayan Herrera also had Spanish citizenship.

Career

As a player

Heriberto Herrera began his professional career with Club Nacional in his native Paraguay. From 1952 to 1959 he was with the Spanish club Atlético Madrid under contract.

With the national team of Paraguay the defender won by the 3-2 final win against Brazil 1953 Copa América. Herrera was honored for the best player of the tournament. On March 10, 1957, he graduated from the 2-2 draw against Switzerland, his only game for Spain.

As a coach

Herrera began were coaching career in Spain, where he Elche CF and Espanyol supervised et al. From 1964 to 1969 he coached Juventus and led the team while 1964/65 to win the Coppa Italia and 1966/67, the Italian championship.
