Hermagoras of Aquileia

Hermagoras is a saint of the Catholic Church, over its life, there is conflicting information (probably around † 304 in Singidunum ( Belgrade ) ).

Presumably he was editor of the Church of Singidunum and suffered, together with Fortunatus of Todi ( a deacon of the same church), martyred. His relics are to be reached by 400 to Aquileia, where after 550 the legend arose Hermagoras be apostles students and first bishop of Aquileia and had been martyred by 70 ( so BBKL ).

Another theory is that it is two different people, which are fused by an anachronistic equation in historiography to a person ( such LThK ).

His feast day is July 12th.

Hermagoras is named after the Carinthian town of Hermagor and the Slovenian Hermagoras Club. With Fortunatus of Todi he is patron of the Benedictine abbey church of Gornji Grad, Slovenia, and the San Marcuola church in Venice.
