Herman Adolph, Count of Lippe

Hermann Adolf zur Lippe -Detmold (* 1616, † 1666) was ruler of the county of Lippe- Detmold.

Life

He was the son of Count Simon VII to lip and Countess Anna Catherine of Nassau- Wiesbaden- Idstein ( 1590-1622 ).

In 1659 he completed the expansion of the castle horn with a magnificent baroque portal through which the coat of arms of his family and his wife are attached.

Under his rule, the majority of the Detmold witch trials took place: 1653-1654 five Hexereianklagen, from 1654 detention of 52 " magic children " in Detmold School House, from 1657 to 1661 twelve trials in 1666 and 1669 charges against two men for witchcraft.

1663-1664 he participated in the 4th Austrian war against the Turks by sending a company of 140 mercenaries. After the Peace of iron castle, the soldiers returned to the home in December 1664.

Hermann Adolf was since 1648 with Countess Ernestine Ysenburg - Büdingen - Birstein from Offenbach (* February 9, 1614; † December 5, 1665 ) married and had children with her the following:

  • Johanna Elisabeth ( * August 6, 1653, † June 5, 1690 ) ∞ Count Christoph Friedrich von Dohna- Lauck

After the death of Ernestine on December 5, 1665, he married in 1666 Countess Amalia zu Lippe -Brake (* September 20, 1629; † August 19, 1676 ). This marriage remained childless.
