Herman Adriaan van Karnebeek

Herman Adriaan van Karnebeek ( born August 21, 1874 in The Hague, † March 29, 1942 ) was a Dutch diplomat and minister.

Karnebeek was a staunch advocate of the Dutch policy of independence and is often referred to as her best foreign minister of Dutch.

Family and Education

Karnebeek joined the eldest of three sons of the politician and diplomat Abraham van Karnebeek and his wife Maria Petronella Rochussen in the professional footsteps of his father. After attending high school Haganum in The Hague, he studied from 1892 to 1900 law at Leiden and Political Sciences in Utrecht, where he received his doctorate in 1900 with " De ' Costa Rica packet' arbitrage " cum laude. Career

Due to influence of his father, he was from 1899 to 1901 a first job as a secretary at the First Hague Peace Conference. He then pursued a career Foreign Service and was from 1901 to 1911 in the Dutch Colonial Office in the Department of Justice, Education, culture and industry working as an administrative secretary, where he was in 1904 and 1908 speakers promoted to head of his department.
