Herman De Croo

Herman De Croo Francies Joseph ( born August 12, 1937 in Opbrakel ) is a Belgian politician and a confidant of King Albert II. He finished his studies in 1961 at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. From 1999 to 2007 he was President of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives; he previously was a member of the Belgian Senate. He is the current mayor of Brakel.

De Croo in 1968 was elected a member of the Belgian Chamber of Deputies for the PVV -PLP. Because of the constant change of government De Croo was minister of transport and foreign trade; Minister of Transport, postal services, telegraphy and telephony; Minister of Education and Minister of postal services of telegraphy, telephony and pensions.
