Herman W. Snow

Herman Wilber Snow ( born July 3, 1836 in Michigan City, Indiana; † August 25, 1914 in Kankakee, Illinois ) was an American politician. Between 1891 and 1893 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Even in his youth moved with his parents to Herman Snow Madisonville in Kentucky, where he attended the public schools. He then settled in Sheldon ( Illinois) and was there for several years as a teacher. After a subsequent study of law and qualifying as a lawyer, he began to work in this profession. During the Civil War, Snow served in various units in the army of the Union, where he rose to lieutenant colonel. After his military service, he taught for three years as a teacher at the Chicago High School. Then he returned to Sheldon, where he worked in the banking industry. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. Between 1872 and 1874 he sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from Illinois.

In the congressional elections of 1890 Snow was in the ninth constituency of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Lewis E. Payson on March 4, 1891. Since he has not been confirmed in 1892, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1893.
