Hermann Barrelet

Hermann Joseph Barrelet (* 1881 in Neuchâtel, † unknown) was a French rower who in 1900 was the first Olympic champion in One.

Barrelet started for the club Sport Nautique d' Enghien. At the Olympic Games in 1900 five rowers competed in the finale, four French and one British. The French European champion of 1899, Louis Prével announced on the go. Barrelet won the race in 7:35,6 minutes ( route length: 1750 m ) with six seconds ahead of Andre Gaudin, half a minute behind the Briton finished Saint George Ashe third place.

In the Olympic rematch of the 1900 European Championship, won Prével, Barrelet not approached. 1901 in Zurich then was Barrelet European champions.
