Hermann Rothe

Hermann Rothe ( born December 28, 1882 in Vienna, † December 18, 1923 ) was an Austrian mathematician.

Rothe studied at the University of Vienna and the University of Göttingen and received his doctorate in Vienna in 1909 as a Doctor of Technical Sciences. After that, he was an assistant at the Technical University of Vienna, where he qualified in 1910. 1913 married Rothe and taught mathematics at the Technical University as an associate professor, and from 1920 as a full professor. 1923 Rothe died after a long illness.

Rothe was renowned for his work (1910-1912) with Philipp Frank on the Special Theory of Relativity, where the authors tried to derive the Lorentz transformation in the context of group theory and without recourse to the postulate of the constancy of the speed of light.

In addition Rothe employed away his teaching career with the grass man between extension theory.
