Hermann tom Ring

Hermann tom Ring ( born January 2, 1521 Münster, † October 18, 1596 ) was a painter from the münsterländer family of artists tom Ring.

Life

Hermann tom Ring was born as the second son of Ludger tom Ring in Münster. At first he was a journeyman in the northern Netherlands and came back later than 1544 to Münster. Here he created his first work: the self-portrait of 1544 All of his works were for the Catholic churches and the city of Münster.. Tom Ring was in 1556 the second head of the Painters Association in Munster. From 1569 to 1597 he held the line.

Besides painting, tom Ring also designed epitaphs, fireplace pieces, gables and carvings. In addition to the paintings of his siblings and parents ( 1547) and his own family ( 1592), he also created the wings of the high altar and the paintings of the evangelists in the Überwasserkirche Münster.

Tom Ring died on October 18, 1596 in Münster.
