Hermann von Borries

Hermann von Borries ( born October 13, 1899 in Sülzhagen, † February 16, 1943 in Porkhov, Russia) became known as the commander of the troops from the outbreak Demyansk pocket ( company gangway ).

Lieutenant Colonel Hermann von Borries commanded the Infantry Regiment 46, along the river Lovat met at the place Ramushevo on the relief column of Lieutenant General Walther von Seydlitz- Kurzbach. He succeeded in its sector to open a several kilometers long and 4 km wide corridor connecting the Demjansker boiler. In this corridor, a corduroy road was laid out as a road link through a forest swamp. For his achievements at the opening of the boiler of Demyansk him the Knight's Cross was awarded.

Hermann von Borries died on 16 February 1943 in a field hospital in Porkhov, Russia consequence of a severe wound.
