Hermann von Kerssenbroch

Hermann von Kerssenbrock (* 1519 in Barntrup; † July 5, 1585 in Osnabrück) was for many years rector of the grammar school in the Pauline Münster ( Westphalia).

Kerssenbrock was a pupil at the cathedral school in Münster in Westphalia, who later became the Pauline school. From 1548 to 1550 he worked as rector of the Latin school in Hamm. Then he returned to the cathedral school in Münster and was employed there from 1550 to 1575 as rector. After that, he was headmaster of the cathedral school in Paderborn and in Werl. He has become as a writer of history Anabaptistici furoris Monasterium inclitam Westphaliae metropolim evertentis historica narratio known. This treatise on the Baptist kingdom of Munster in 1573, he wrote in part from his own experience and on the basis of reports of other witnesses down. Herein he describes the customs and conditions in Munster in the late 16th century. Above all, his overly detailed description of the fortification Minster led to a rift with various authorities, and he had to leave the city.
