Hermann Wiehle

Hermann Wiehle, full name Frederick Martin Hermann Wiehle, ( born November 18, 1884 in Ballenstedt, † July 7, 1966 in Dessau ) was a German teacher and Arachnologe.

Life and work

After leaving school, Hermann Wiehle received already from the age of 15 his training at teacher training college in Köthen Anhalt. After he was then initially worked at a village school, Wiehle graduated from the high school teacher exam. He then worked as a teacher, mainly in biology and mathematics from 1924 as Rector of the elementary school IV in the Dessau Flössergasse. 1924 Wiehle Hermann put in extracurricular gear be also graduating from the Domgymnasium from Magdeburg. He then studied by distance learning at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Halle.

Already in his time at the teacher training college Wiehle developed a special interest in arachnids. During his studies he began to intensively deal with the issue. 1933 Wiehle entered in the National Socialist Teachers' Association and was employed as a county officer for racial issues. Its inclusion in the National Socialist German Workers' Party was, after last rejection in 1938, much later. 1935 Wiehle was also rector of the new boys' secondary school, which was created from the merger of the boys middle schools I and II. He led the school until he was dismissed in 1945 because of his Nazi Party membership from the education service.

From 1946 Hermann Wiehle honor of being appointed as a mathematics teacher at the vocational school operating SAG wagon Dessau again. A little later the management of adult qualifications of the company was transferred in which he held until his retirement.

As retirees Wiehle devoted again the Arachnologie, corresponding member of the Senckenberg Nature Research Society was, he was awarded the "Silver Medal of Merit " on his 75th birthday, and the Academy of Sciences. The founding of the International Society of Arachnology (ISA ) also goes back to Hermann Wiehle, who gave the impetus in 1960 at an international meeting of arachnologists.

Hermann Wiehle died of a heart attack he had suffered at a conference of arachnologists in June 1966 in Frankfurt am Main, on 7 July 1966 in Dessau.

His grave in the new burial ground continues in the hands of the pupils of the school wall.

Together with Mary, Harm, a teacher at the Dessau Middle School Girls II, Hermann Wiehle wrote the textbook life skills for middle schools. , Which appeared in three parts.
