Hermarchus

Hermarchos from Mytilene (c. 340 BC; † around 260 BC in Athens ) was an Epicurean philosopher.

He was the son of Agemortos and a student, friend and contemporary of Epicurus. Hermarchos took over after his death the succession in the leadership of the school. None of his writings (including " treatises in letter form ", "Against Empedocles ", "On Science ", "Against Plato " and " Aristotle counter " ) was retained.
