The band
Hermes House Band was founded in 1984 as the then still purely Dutch Cover and party combo. It emerged from the " Rotterdamsch students Corps " (RSC ); the band name is derived from the Rotterdam fraternity " Sociëteit Hermes ". Today the band consists mainly of members Robin Maas, Jop Wijlacker and Sally Flissinger. The cast changed hands several times through acquisitions and departure of most student members.
Music
The international breakthrough came in 1999 with a rhythmic, cover of Gloria Gaynor's song "I Will Survive" (1995 already # 1 in the Netherlands). This was followed by, among others, covers of John Denver's "Country Roads" Doris Day " Que Sera, Sera " (2001) and "Live is Life " ( collaboration with DJ Ötzi ). A major expansion came the collaboration with the British crooner Tony Christie. Is This the Way to Amarillo? was launched together with him again and brought out as a pop - oriented Party version.
