Herne (Belgium ) is a Belgian municipality located in the Flemish region with 6572 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012). It consists of the eponymous capital and the two 1977 eingemeindeten districts Herfelingen and Sint -Pieters -Kapelle.

Geraardsbergen is located 12 kilometers (km) north-west, about 27 km north-east Brussels and Ghent 40 km northwest.

The next highway exits are south at Marcq and Enghien on the A 8 and in the east at Hall 19 at the A 7 / E The community has a regional railway station on the Belgian railway line 123 ( Geraardsbergen - Enghien ). The Brussels National Airport near the capital, is the nearest international airport.
