Herodas

Herodas ( Ἡρώδας, also Herondas or Heroidas ), probably from Kos, was a Greek poet of Mimiamben in the epoch of Hellenism ( 3rd century BC). Very little was known of him until 1890, nine of his Mimiamben have been found on an Egyptian papyrus.

In his stories mainly people from the lower classes before as brothel owners and slaves to entertain the better society with these insights. Herodas was an imitator of the Ionian poet Hipponax.

He lived at least for a certain time in Alexandria.
