Hérouville-Saint-Clair

Hérouville -Saint -Clair is a commune in the French region of Lower Normandy Calvados region. It is equipped with 21,360 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) is the third largest city of the department and was told since the beginning of the 1960s, a substantial population growth. The city is part of the arrondissement of Caen and is capital of the canton Hérouville -Saint -Clair (Caen -5).

Hérouville -Saint -Clair is located on the west bank of the Orne in the immediate neighborhood north of Caen. By 1957, the place was simply called Hérouville. Hérouville is connected by tram B with Caen ( see Tramway de Caen ). Many areas of Hérouville, are striking by its contemporary architecture. The basic idea was a decentralized urbanization, while the individual parts of the city were given small shopping centers, in order to emphasize their autonomy. In the late 1980s, an urban city center was first created. Mayor Rodolphe Thoma ( MODEM ).

There are the following districts: Le Bourg, Savary, Les Belles Portes, Saint- Clair, Le Val, La Grande Delle, La Haute Folie, Le Grand Parc, Le Lycée La Zone d' activité, Montmorency, Beauregard and Lebisey.

In Hérouville there are several Collèges and three secondary schools.

Twinning

Hérouville -Saint -Clair maintains twinning to Tikhvin ( Тихвин ) in Russia and in Germany Garbsen.
