Geographical Location

Herpf is located in the west of the city in front of the Rhön in the valley of the same river Herpf near the 751 meter high Gebaberges. The place is located in the Biosphere Reserve Rhön. The distance to the city center of Meiningen is in a straight line approximately six kilometers (street = 10 km).

History

In Eichigt there are prehistoric tumuli. 788 Herpf was mentioned as Heripfe documented and is the oldest district of Meiningen.
