Herrin is a city in Illinois with 11,298 inhabitants ( 2000). It is located 137 km south-east of St. Louis, 19 km northeast of Carbondale and 12 km from Marion within its metropolitan area and is part of Williamson County.

History

At the beginning of the 19th century was mistress to the Lusks Ferry Road was then a major road as a supply connection, connecting the Ohio River with the Fort Kaskaskia. 1922 The town gained notoriety when during a strike of the miners a total of 3 people in the company's management and 19 strikebreakers were killed.
