Herrngiersdorf located southeast of Long Quaid in the region of Regensburg.

There are the districts Herrngiersdorf, Sandbach, Semerskirchen and Sittelsdorf.

History

Potsherds with Pottery and tools from gray-green shale refer to the Neolithic colonization of the municipal area. Even urn fields from the Bronze Age have been found. There are a number of burial mounds in the vicinity. On a hill are two Celts jumps. Probably had been a Roman military road through the municipality.

Gable village which originates probably from the personal name terr is first mentioned in 1135, it may be, however, also be small yaw village ( community hall adDonau ). The present district of Sandbach was under from 1043 to 1803 as provost and Hofmark the monastery Geisen field.

Attractions

  • Castle Herrngiersdorf. It was originally created as a moated castle and rebuilt in 1709 instead of the old castle of Albrecht von Guggenmos. Since 1899 it is owned by the Pausinger family.
  • Branch Church of St. Martin in Herrngiersdorf. The late Romanesque building dates from the 13th century and has a late Gothic choir. Martin Bader created the stucco in the baroque style in 1740.
