Heru

A Heru is a traditional, used as jewelry and status symbol crest of Māori in New Zealand. He was carved from either a piece of wood or whalebone or the individual teeth were interwoven with plant fibers.

It was used by men to hochzustecken her long, oiled hair in knots. The comb indicated the rank of the wearer. Except with the comb the hair was decorated with feathers of the Huia.
