Geographical location
The municipality is located in the Palatinate on the German Wine Route.
History
In 774 the town was first mentioned in documents as Heriesheim.
The landmark of the village is about 1000 years old Protestant church. This former St. Jacob's Church has the base of a tower with gratgewölbtem chancel choir, which is followed by a semi-circular apse. The church was built around 1014 and is one of the oldest religious buildings in the Palatinate. The nave was built 1729th In the sanctuary, forest paintings were uncovered, showing the four evangelists, both in human form with wings and with the heads of their symbols. In the vault of the apse there was a representation of the Last Judgment, on the south wall you can see the Apostle Paul. The paintings were in the second half of the 14th century.

Telecommunications
In the hamlet head the German Telekom uses a 130 -meter high telecommunication tower of reinforced concrete. The type tower was completed in 1969.
