Heshmat Sanjari

Heshmat Sanjari (* 1918 † 4 January 1995) (Persian حشمت سنجري ) was an Iranian composer and conductor.

Life

Heshamt Sanjari was born in 1918 as son of the famous tar player Hossein Sanjari. He studied violin at the Tehran Conservatory of Music under Serge Khotsief. Later a conducting course finished at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with Hans Swarovsky.

In 1951 he became director of the Tehran Conservatory of Music, and from 1960 he took over the management of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Tehran. He led the orchestra until 1972.

As a guest conductor he gave concerts with the Chamber Orchestra of the National Iranian Radio and Television ( NITV ) and several European orchestras.

Compositions

Among his compositions especially " Persian Pictures" and " Niayesh " were known. Persian Pictures is called a masterpiece of contemporary symphonic music of Iran.
