Geographical location

Hessian Lichtenau is located in the Werra- Meißner-Kreis approximately 20 km (air line ) southeast of Kassel between the Hirschberg to 643.4 m above sea level. NN high Kaufunger forest in the north, the Hohe Meissner ( 753.6 m ) in the east, the mountains Stölzinger with the iceberg ( 583 m) in the southeast and the Günsteröder level with the Himmelberg ( 563.7 m) in the southwest. The framed by the mountain ranges mentioned valley floor is Hessian- light Auer pool called, through which flows as the core city of hessian Lichtenau of the Losse.

History

Incorporations

On December 31, 1971, the formerly independent communities Retterode and Wickersrode were incorporated. On April 1, 1972, added Reichenbach. Friedrich Bruck, Prince Hagen, Hausen, Hollstein, Hopfelde, kitchens, Quentel, Velmeden and Walburg area and parts of the neighboring town Großalmerode then with about 100 inhabitants, followed on 1 January 1974.

Mayor

Since February 2000, Jürgen Herwig 's (SPD), directly elected, full-time mayor. He was re-elected in the election on 6 November 2005 with 64.4 % of votes cast.

Herwig was confirmed on 29 January 2012, 54.1 % of the vote in office. He beat out three rival candidates.

Twinning

Hessian Lichtenau is twinned by a twinned with the Flemish town of Dessel in Belgium.

Structures

In the district of Prince Hagen: building complex of Lenoir Foundation ( former orphanages ), Pestalozzi Monument, Mausoleum of the Lenoir family, on a hill on a pond ( Architect: Julius Eubell; built in 1903 ); 1893 donated by George André Lenoir ( 1825-1909 ), son of JH Lenoir and honorary citizen of Kassel. Also the neighboring farm Teichhof originally belonged to Lenoir Foundation.

In the district of Reichenbach: Church of Deutschordensballei Hesse, former monastery church Reichenbach, the oldest branch of the Teutonic Order in Germany. West of Reichenbach are the ruins of the castle Reichenbach on the 522 m above sea level. NN high Schlossberg.

Hessian Lichtenau is located as a gateway to Mother Hulda country on the German Fairytale Route.

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

The tram line direction Mattenberg traveling on the Losse valley railway directly to the Kassel City and runs weekdays at 30- minute intervals in the morning Monday - Friday in 15 -minute intervals and hourly on weekends.

In the vicinity of the district Reichenbach is the beacon LAU an international air street.

Hessian Lichtenau is located on the B 7, east of the city is situated between junctions hessian Lichtenau Center and hessian Lichtenau- East ( Walburg ) a few kilometers long section of the BAB 44 with the Wehretalbrücke (530 m long) and Walberg (about. 280 m long), the extension portions to Kassel as well as to wommen located in various construction and planning phases.

Only secondary school of the village is the Freiherr- vom- Stein-Schule in the city hessian Lichtenau, a comprehensive school with Gymnasium upper level. The FVSS has a strong all-day activities.
