Hessische Landesbahn

The Hessian Bahn GmbH (HLB ) is a regional transport company owned by the State of Hesse with headquarters in Frankfurt am Main. It provides through its subsidiaries and associated companies, passenger transport services by bus and train in Hesse and across national borders, and to a lesser extent, freight transport services by rail.

Business

The management of the Hessian State Railway is perceived by Veit Salzmann. In the Supervisory Board, the counties and the State of Hessen represented by four people, further workers also have four seats.

Structure

The Hessian Bahn GmbH operates as a holding company for three subsidiaries:

  • HLB base AG
  • HLB Hesse Bahn GmbH
  • HLB Hessenbus GmbH

The HLB base AG represents the transport companies resources. She's railway infrastructure companies (EIU ), owner of the most HLB vehicles and operates the garages of HLB. At their HLB holds almost 85 % of the shares, the remaining shares are predominantly in community ownership.

HLB Hessen GmbH provides rail transport services by rail, the HLB Hessenbus GmbH provides transport services to the bus. Both participating with their own offerings in tenders for transport services. They are 100 percent subsidiaries of HLB.

History

The company was founded in 1955 as a common umbrella of several non- government-owned railways in Hesse, etc. all of which operated as an integrated railway undertaking their own rail infrastructure with railway stations, as well as the driving on this infrastructure.

As part of the separation of infrastructure and operation of the operation of railways and bus lines of the subsidiaries was transferred to the founded on 8 December 2004 companies HLB Hesse Bahn GmbH and HLB Hessenbus GmbH.

On 20 September 2005 merged to a resolution of the general meetings of these three transport companies of 27 July 2005, the three subsidiaries Frankfurt- Königstein Eisenbahn AG ( FKE), Butzbach Licher Eisenbahn AG (BLE ) and Kassel- Naumburg Eisenbahn AG ( KNE ) retrospectively January 1, 2005 Frankfurt- Königstein Railway AG. They operate since then as a common infrastructure operators. The companies Lich Butzbach - Eisenbahn AG and Kassel- Naumburg Eisenbahn AG have been deleted from the commercial register. The Hersfelder Eisenbahn GmbH ( HEG ), the railway has now been set is not affected by this merger.

On 8 March 2006, the Frankfurt- Königstein Railway AG was renamed HLB base AG.

Transport services

The subsidiaries of the Hessian State Railway perform at the 237.5 kilometers of track, 3.8 million kilometers driven on the bus lines 1013 km 10.34 million vehicle kilometers.

Investments

The HLB base AG is involved along with the Kassel public transport Company Ltd (CCG ) to 50 % at the regional train Kassel GmbH ( RBK ). The RBC provides on the Losse Switchback combined railway and tram traffic and tram services in Kassel, and as a railway infrastructure company for the Losse Valley Railway ( or part thereof ) acts.

  • The RBK turn holds 49% of the regional tram operating company, the joint venture with Deutsche Bahn AG, which operates the RegioTram Kassel, with vehicles on the street railway lines in the city of Kassel as a tram (after BOStrab ) and on the railway lines outside of Kassel as a railroad (after EBO ) drives.

By forming the HLB base AG was also the former joint venture of Butzbach Licher Eisenbahn AG with Autobus Sippel from Hofheim ( to Netinera belonging ) and the company bus Dreischmeier GmbH (ABD ) in Lich (50%) to HLB basis.

Through other subsidiaries, the HLB operates rail passenger transport on the Hessen limits in four of the six neighboring states:

  • To Rhineland -Palatinate along with the Westerwaldbahn GmbH in the Vectus traffic mbH (HLB 74.9 %),
  • To North Rhine -Westphalia and Rhineland -Palatinate with the Westerwaldbahn GmbH and the circular path of Siegen-Wittgenstein together in the Heller Valley Railway GmbH (HLB 33%),
  • To Lower Saxony and Thuringia together with BeNEX, the expanding society of Hamburg elevated railway in the cantus traffic mbH (HLB 50%),
  • To Thuringia along with the Erfurt Bahn GmbH (EB ) in the South- Thuringia - Bahn GmbH (HLB 50%).

Rates

The Hessian Bahn GmbH is a member of the collective organization of the federal treasury and non-federally owned railways in Germany. Tickets Deutsche Bahn apply accordingly also in the trains of HLB.

On the Hessian routes the tariffs of the RMV or NPT are applied on the routes to neighboring countries, the tariffs of the prevailing traffic and tariff networks.
