Hetairideia

Hetairideia (Greek Ἑταιρίδεια ) was a festival in honor of Zeus Hetaireios that was committed in Macedonia and Thessaly in the city Magnesia in ancient Greece.

The Thessalian festival is attributed in myth to Iason. This endows it to Zeus as protector of camaraderie after he has gathered in Magnesia with the other Argonauts. The festival in Macedonia was organized by the Macedonian kings. Nilsson suspected that the proffered victim referred to the Hetairoi who took a special role as an advisor and bodyguard of the king.
